This long awaited formation at Alton Barnes was reported on Sunday 25th July, when a nature day was taking place on the downs above its location.  This brought even more visitors to the fields around Alton Barnes as can be seen from the zoomed shots on the left!

The pattern seen in this formation, a central design with 'arms' of cirlces decreasing in size has been incorporated in numerous formations in the past including the Avebury Avenue formation of 2009 that was sadly destroyed before most people saw its centre.

These patterns often give the impression of the design swimming or soaring across the landscape.
